The cities of Zaragoza and Shaoxing , located in the province of Zhejiang (China), have signed a collaboration agreement to consolidate the traditional friendship between both municipalities and expand cooperation in the exchange of long-term experiences , in addition to promoting trade abroad.
The mayor of Zaragoza, Natalia Chueca, and the president of the Government of Aragon, Jorge Azcón, held a meeting in Madrid with the Chinese ambassador , Yao Jing, who visited the Zaragoza Town Hall on January 28, coinciding with the celebration of the year Chinese in the Aragonese capital and the weekend of the San Valero festival, patron saint of the city.
The understanding agreement between both cities, approved by Mayor’s Decree, contemplates several actions. The first of them seeks to promote foreign trade between the two local governments and the business communities of both cities, through the exchange of information and commercial visits.
Secondly, it is agreed to cooperate and share experiences in areas such as logistics, transportation, mobility, renewable energy, science and technology, industry and commerce . In addition, this collaboration will also extend to other issues such as sports and leisure, culture and tourism, sustainable development, strategic urban planning, environmental protection and education with academic exchanges.
Both parties commit to maintaining “a long-term cooperative relationship” in order to promote social and economic development in both cities. To this end, they agree to maintain regular contacts between institutional managers and the competent departments of the two cities.
