Romance stories, the most convoluted mysteries, the search for treasure or the most famous poems will once again take over the Parque Grande José Antonio Labordeta on the occasion of the Zaragoza Book Fair . Books and meetings between writers and readers will take place again in this great space in the city from June 1 to 9 .
A total of 482 authors will be present in the Parque Grande throughout the nine days where more than a thousand signatures will be made in the 75 booths arranged along the Paseo de San Sebastián. There will be 53 exhibitors, 36 will belong to publishers, 13 to bookstores and three to institutions or associations. In addition, there will be a tent where various activities and workshops will be held.
Among the authors who will meet at this fair, Máximo Huerta stands out , who will open the fair next Saturday the 1st at 11:00 a.m. with a signing of all his work. Beatriz Luengo will present her new book and David Lozano , recent SM Gran Angular Award winner, will sign books. The three will do it at the Kiosko de las Letras of the Zaragoza City Council. The culture advisor, Sara Fernández, has highlighted that they will carry out other children’s activities such as music from the Sound Forest and the awards ceremony for the escapebook “The brotherhood of words.”
The opening of the Fair will be this Saturday, June 1, at 11:00 a.m., and an hour later the official event will take place, in which this year Ana Santos Aramburo , a well-known Zaragoza native who was for more than a decade, participates as a preacher. and until a few months ago the director of the National Library of Spain.
The president of the Permanent Book Commission, Copeli, Rafael Yuste, has expressed that the fair will once again be a great success. “ The book sector has to be very united , and thanks to that union we are generating a Book Fair with national importance. The good times that Aragonese literature is experiencing with some magnificent ambassadors contributes to this, without a doubt,” he stated.
SCHEDULE
In total there will be nine days starting June 1 in which booksellers, editors, distributors, authors and readers will meet around the book sector. Opening hours will be from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. (weekends and also this year Thursday and Friday) and from 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on all fair days.
ENCOURAGE READING AMONG CHILDREN
Among the novelties of the fair, this year more prominence is given to children to encourage reading among them, which is why several school visits have been organized that will take place on June 6 and 7. To do this, the booths will open on purpose on those days in the morning because “we want to adapt to the projects that are being carried out in the schools because they care about having their own libraries and their own book fairs and, therefore, from the Fair We are betting more and more on the children’s audience, as well as on the presence of families with the multiple programmed activities,” added Rafael Yuste. About 80 schoolchildren from the Cesárea Alierta and Ramiro Solans public schools will visit the Book Fair on Thursday and Friday mornings.
ACTIVITIES FOR ALL PUBLIC
Book presentations, storytelling and workshops, signings and meetings with authors… up to more than 60 activities have been scheduled at the Fair. Among the activities is the one organized by the Aragonese Association of Writers “A story, a smile. Reading stories for hospitalized children”, which this year reaches its 15th anniversary. Cándido Blas and Clara Fuertes will read stories on June 4 in the Miguel Servet children’s hospital classroom; and on June 5, David Lozano, Joaquín Caballero and María Pilar Callizo will do the same in the Cyberaula of the Lozano Blesa University Clinical Hospital.
It is also worth highlighting the numerous events organized by the Municipal Library Board at the Kiosko de las Letras , located on the Paseo de los Bearneses, with a rich program for all audiences framed in the Book Fair, thanks to the agreement established between the Municipal Board of Libraries and Copeli.
Avanza Zaragoza has once again launched this year a new edition of the Avanza Microstory Prize , which is celebrating its third edition and to which works can be submitted until May 31. The jury’s decision for this Award will be announced on June 6 at 8 p.m., within the framework of the Zaragoza Book Fair programming.
