Zaragoza is among the ten most popular cities in Spain to buy a house

In idealista’s ranking of demand for sales between April and June, the major capitals stand out as the main destinations for searches

Zaragoza has slipped into the top ten most sought-after cities in Spain to buy a home according to a study by idealista for the second quarter of 2024 and climbed two positions in the ranking from ninth to seventh position. Still with a market heavily marked by the pressure of demand on supply and according to data from the real estate portal, in June the price per square metre in the Aragonese capital was 1,831 euros, with an annual increase of 4.5% in a constant price escalation that has become the national trend.

In the idealista ranking of sales demand between April and June, the major cities stand out as the main destinations for searches and interactions by users of the real estate marketplace in southern Europe. Madrid heads the list, followed by the neighbouring town of Alcalá de Henares, and Valencia, which in turn is accompanied by Torrent. After them, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is in fifth place and Santa Cruz de Tenerife in sixth, followed by Zaragoza (7), Seville (8), Barcelona (9) and Santander (10).

Next, in the second step among the towns with the highest relative demand for sale, there is greater equality between capitals and periphery. For example, there are Reus (Tarragona), Hospitalet de Llobregat and also Badalona (17) and Sant Cugat del Vallès (20), all three in Barcelona, ​​with the particularity of Gijón (14) among the most prominent towns outside the provincial capitals. Among them, there are another five provincial capitals, such as Málaga, which is in 13th position, ahead of Palma (15), Huelva (16), Almería (18) or A Coruña (19).

Behind these cities, coastal destinations spread throughout the country begin to stand out, such as 
San Bartolomé de Tirajana (Gran Canaria), in 23rd place, together with Rincón de la Victoria in Málaga (24); Gandía (26), in Valencia; or Vilanova i la Geltrú (27), in Barcelona, ​​together with capitals with sea views such as San Sebastián (21), Alicante (22) or Tarragona (30), and large cities around Barcelona such as Manresa (25) or Terrassa (28).
