Iryo will connect Barcelona with Malaga, with a stop in Zaragoza, starting on December 15

With two frequencies a day – one way and one return – seven days a week, the Barcelona-Málaga route will have stops in Zaragoza, Madrid (20 minutes) and Córdoba and will connect both cities in about five hours and fifty minutes.

Iryo, the private high-speed operatorowned by Trenitalia, Air Nostrum and Globalvia, announced this Friday that starting on December 15, it will operate a new transversal route that will connect the cities of Barcelona and Malaga. 

According to the company, this is the second connection between the northwest and the south of Spain, joining the route between Barcelona and Seville available from 2023.

With two daily flights – one round trip – seven days a week, the route will have stops in ZaragozaMadrid (20 minutes) and Córdoba. The number of seats that Iryo will offer per year for this route will be 336,530, connecting both cities in approximately five hours and fifty minutes.

Specifically, the train from Barcelona will leave at 11:50 a.m. and arrive at 5:42 p.m., while the train from Malaga will leave at 11:35 a.m. and arrive at 5:37 p.m.

Iryo has also announced that it has already uploaded 70% of the tickets for travel throughout 2025 to the cities where it operates on its website, being the first railway operator to open sales for next year.

This initiative is part of the company’s commitment to its travellers, offering them the possibility of planning trips and getaways in advance through flexible tickets without restrictive fares that cost customers money. In this sense, they allow all kinds of changes of date, time, seat and holder, with or without associated costs depending on the chosen fare.

With a fleet of 20 trains, Iryo connects the cities of Madrid, Zaragoza, Barcelona, ​​Tarragona, Cuenca, Valencia, Alicante, Albacete, Córdoba, Seville and Málaga.
