The laying of the first stone for the extension of the headquarters of the Aragonese company Cablescom, belonging to the Chinese group Hengtong Group, will mean an investment of ten million euros for Zaragoza.

The company will incorporate cutting-edge technology and will lead to significant growth and an increase in its workforce of 20 workers. The president of Aragon, Jorge Azcón, has visited the construction site of the future headquarters, which will be up and running in less than a year, highlighting that this is “good news” and a commitment to the Community.

“This investment will lead to significant growth for your company and also for Aragon. It will increase your production capacity by 60% and you will continue to create jobs at your headquarters in Zaragoza, securing the 300 you already have.” Present at this meeting were the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Cablescom, Eddie Wang, and the Chinese ambassador to Spain, Yao Jing, and the Mayor of Zaragoza, Natalia Chueca.

The President of Aragon, Jorge Azcón, has highlighted the good commercial relations that exist between Aragon and China and has taken the opportunity to delve into the industrial appeal of the community: “Thousands of euros in investments are going to come to Aragon and will generate a great business ecosystem. This generates the attraction of large companies and the symbiosis between the different entities that are already contributing.”

The Cobra Group will be responsible for carrying out the works, which have a nine-month execution period. Demolition and preliminary work began in July and earthworks are expected to be completed in October. Between November and March, the construction of the structure, roof, facades, floors and installations will be completed. The plant is expected to be put into operation progressively during the autumn of 2025.

Cablescom is one of the leading European companies dedicated to the design, manufacture and marketing of telecommunications and signaling cables, both optical fiber and copper. The Aragonese company, which since 2016 belongs to Hengtong Group, develops its main activity in Zaragoza.

The building, which has been designed as a single storey and in an “L” shape next to the headquarters, will have a constructed area of approximately 8,000 square metres, so that, after the extension, the occupied area of the plot will be 37,9000 square metres.

The layout will be divided into three main areas: extrusion, protection and painting. It will also house a chemical warehouse and a testing machine. In addition, a new 800 square metre office area will be built in the current warehouse, among other works.

The future plant will increase the production of fibre optic cables and optimise processes more efficiently with regard to the distribution of material flows and final intermediate products.

In addition to the current investment, Hengtong Group has invested more than ten million euros in Cablescom since 2016. It has also expanded its presence in the country with the opening of offices in Madrid, which depend on the headquarters in the Aragonese capital to strengthen its strategic position in Aragon, Spain and Europe.
