Chinese and Spanish companies strengthen ties and open the possibility of future projects in Aragon

During the meeting, nine agreements were signed between different Chinese universities, companies and research centers and the University of Zaragoza.

Around 200 experts and companies met this Wednesday at the University of Zaragoza to participate in the China-Spain Scientific and Technological Cooperation Conference . This meeting has served to further strengthen ties between both countries and promote future collaboration projects in these areas in Aragon.

During the meeting, nine agreements were signed between different Chinese universities, companies and research centres and the University of Zaragoza, and four conferences were held on current issues in the technology sector, specifically on artificial intelligence, biotechnology, advanced materials and renewable energies.

“It is because of innovation, openness and trust that more and more Chinese companies are showing interest in investing in Zaragoza and we are working to achieve success in collaborations between the two countries. After this activity, we believe that we should open more windows for collaboration between the two countries and we hope that next year and in the future we can have more collaborations,” said the ambassador of the People’s Republic of China in Spain, Jao Ying.

In this regard, the rector of the University of Zaragoza, José Antonio Mayoral, said that the objective of the conference is “ to promote an open transfer of knowledge between Spain and China and that this will favour investments, development and that we will go down the path that we need in Europe to advance in these matters”.

During the day, agreements were signed between the University of Zaragoza and the Nanjing Tech University, China Three Gorges, Beijing University of Chemical Technology, among others. An agreement was also signed to create a joint Research Institute with Nanjing, in areas such as thesis or implementing a double degree.
