A delegation from the Andorran town of Ordino, which in 2023 received the Best Tourism Villages award from the World Tourism Organization (now UN Tourism), learned yesterday about the work carried out by Alquézar (Huesca) in recent years to deserve the same award granted in 2022.

JOINT “BEST TOURISM VILLAGES” STRATEGY

The visit is part of the work that both towns maintain with Barcelona’s Rupit, also chosen Best Tourism Villages in 2022, to unite synergies in order to increase the visibility of this international brand after its recognition by the UN. To do this, they are developing a joint communication strategy, a proposal for a Best village itinerary, a common calendar of events and the creation of tourist experiences linked to the brand.

They also promote the creation of a tourist cluster of the towns designated by UN Tourism in the Iberian Peninsula. To this end, visits are organised to exchange experiences between the three towns mentioned, in order to learn about the development of tourism, its characteristics and to plan actions.

The Andorran side was attended by the Consul Major, María del Mar Coma, the Minister of Tourism, Sport and Promotion, Jordi Serracanta, the Director of Tourism, Cristina Ariño, and the advisor on tourism matters, Enric Martínez – Sala.
