The emergency services of the Community of Aragon have been alerted to the possibility of heavy rainfall that could cause sudden flooding of river beds and ravines in the lower section of the Ebro. The Ebro Hydrographic Confederation (CHE) has issued the warning this morning about the possibility of extraordinary local flooding in ravines and smaller riverbeds this Wednesday, based on the forecasts of the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet).

In this regard, the CHE has warned that 180 litres per square metre could be reached in 12 hours in the Lower Ebro and 100 l/m2 in 12 hours in Lower Aragón and Puertos de Beceite due to persistent rain, and 60 l/m2 in 1 hour in the southeastern quadrant of the basin due to the intensity of the rainfall.

For this reason, the 112 Aragón Emergency Centre recommends that the population not approach the riverbeds in the regions of Bajo Aragón, Bajo Aragón-Caspe, Matarraña and Maestrazgo, as well as avoid travelling near ravines in these areas.
