The Government of Aragon has assured this Wednesday that the operation deployed in Catarroja to support the Valencian Community after the bloody passage of the DANA in fifty of its municipalities will be extended beyond Christmas and that it has already been put on the table that this will be extended for months. So far the autonomous executive has allocated 1.1 million euros from the autonomous coffers to help Valencia.

This was announced by the DGA spokesperson, Mar Vaquero , after the Government Council held on November 13. The Aragonese vice president has pointed out that the dates are not precise and that they depend on several factors and daily needs. “It will be weeks, even months. It will depend on the deployment of resources by Valencia itself or by the Government of Spain. I could say that we have already talked about six months but we will wait to see how events develop ,” Vaquero said.

The vice-president has recalled that now the only objective is to help and direct all Aragonese solidarity through human and material resources in Catarroja. “We are at their disposal,” she pointed out. The device responds to daily needs and there are changes.

178 ARAGONESE IN THE OPERATION

As of today, 178 people make up the 112 Aragón operation in Catarroja. There are 15 from forestry crews, 18 firefighters, 32 police officers, 8 civil protection volunteers, 3 forestry agents, 72 drivers and tractor drivers, 2 construction foremen, 10 health workers, 2 psychologists and 5 mechanics.

The DGA also reported on Wednesday that those volunteers who have put their material and human resources at the service of the device will also receive financial compensation to cover expenses such as the purchase of fuel. This is included in the agreement of the Government Council, as well as the aid for the affected municipalities in the Aragonese provinces, who will be able to request aid from Friday.
