Zaragoza fans can now see what their provisional stadium will look like for the next two seasons, the time during which the works on the Nueva Romareda will be carried out. The Board of Directors of the company La Nueva Romareda SL approved in October the award to install a modular stadium on a rental basis. It is the responsibility of the Temporary Union of Companies (UTE) Nussli Iberia SA – Construcciones Mariano López Navarro SAU, which now reveals what the blanquillo’s home ground will look like for the 2025-26 and 2026-27 seasons.
The modular stadium, located in the northern car park of the Expo area, will consist of four stands, one of which will be covered, and will have a capacity for 20,000 people. With a total surface area of 170 x 150 metres, it will have all the necessary equipment for holding LaLiga matches and will offer all the facilities and amenities to guarantee a comprehensive fan experience.
According to Nussli Iberia’s general manager, Lluis Herrero, the project in Zaragoza confirms that it is possible to achieve the highest quality standards even in a permanent stadium. “It is a very good solution for transition periods. We are convinced that it can set the standard for other clubs,” Herrero said.
The supply and installation of the modular rental was awarded for 12,757,598.10 euros and includes the works to prepare the plot. According to the club, this represents a saving of 1.5 million compared to the base tender price.
TERMS AND SERVICES
The project managers are confident that construction will begin soon and that the stadium will be finished just in time for the start of the 2025-2026 league pre-season. The facilities at the stadium include the necessary services for the planned capacity, ticket sales points, merchandising, catering areas and booths for radio and television commentators.
In addition, a building will be built next to the covered grandstand with changing rooms, a first aid room, an anti-doping control room, a press room, offices, a hospitality area and rest areas, all to guarantee the services necessary for holding football competitions, meeting the demands of football teams, LaLiga and fans.
A SUSTAINABLE PROJECT
In addition, the UTE highlights that reusable components will be used during construction , which not only allows for a very short construction time, but also the reuse of materials, which contributes to sustainable planning.
What’s more, after use, the system’s components and materials are reused in other projects. Nussli has already worked on similar projects such as the extension of the stands at Montilivi ( Girona FC); the Anxo Carro (CD Lugo ); the Athletics stadium for the Budapest World Cup in 2023 and the Education City stadium in Doha.
