Wine tourism routes to discover Garnacha from Zaragoza: dates and prices

These are day trips to the DO Campo de Borja, Calatayud and Cariñena

On the occasion of the Garnacha World Capital, Zaragoza will organize different wine tourism routes in the coming months to the three Denominations of Origin of the province: Campo de Borja, Calatayud and Cariñena. Specifically, the trips, which can be purchased from February in the tourist offices, on the Zaragoza Tourism website and on Compartours, will leave from Zaragoza on Saturdays in March and will include transportation and food.

ROUTE THROUGH THE DO CAMPO DE BORJA

The first of the routes, “Moncayo: A Walk between Vineyards and Monasteries”, will go on sale from 1 February. Although the itineraries may vary depending on the dates, it will begin with a guided tour of Tabuenca and a visit to the vineyards of Bodega Palmeri Sicilia. There will also be a tasting of a selection of wines paired with an aperitif.

There will also be a gourmet meal with local products and Borja wines at the Mesón del Aceite in Bulbuente . Before returning to Zaragoza, there will also be a guided tour of the Veruela Monastery and the DO Borja Wine Museum.

ROUTE THROUGH THE CALATAYUD DO

The “Discovering Calatayud and its surroundings: Wine, Food and Culture” getaway will be available for purchase from 8 February. It includes a guided tour of the Mudejar Calatayud, a World Heritage Site. It also includes a visit to Bodegas Langa , as well as a tasting of a selection of wines with an aperitif.

After this, a meal with local products and Calatayud wines will take place at Mesón de La Dolores. Before returning to the Aragonese capital, there will be a visit to the Wine Museum and the Interpretation Centre, as well as a guided walk through the streets of Calatayud.

ROUTE THROUGH THE DO CARIÑENA

The third and final route, “Between Ceramics and Wines: A Gastronomic Getaway” , will be available for purchase from 15 February. As its name suggests, it will include a guided tour of the Muel ceramics workshop , as well as the Muel natural park and its Roman dam. In addition, there will be a guided walk through the streets of Cariñena and the Railway Interpretation Centre.

On the gastronomic side, this getaway includes a visit to the Grandes Vinos winery with a tasting of Garnacha wines with ham and cheese, as well as a meal at the winery with local products and a selection of Garnachas .

PRICES AND DEPARTURES

The three routes will cost 85 euros per person , including transport and food. In addition, the tour can be completed with a hotel stay in Zaragoza if this option is chosen, with an additional cost.

The departures will take place from Zaragoza and will have several stops. The first one will be at Via Univérsitas 48, at 09.00 hours. There will also be a stop at the Pablo Serrano Museum (Paseo María Agustín, 20) at 09.10 hours and at Cesáreo Alierta 80, at 09.20 hours.
