Los Tigres del Norte, Michael Kiwanuka, Zaz, Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals, Julieta Venegas, Residente, Viva Suecia, Ara Malikian, Amaia, La Perra Blanco , Quique González, Yerai Cortés, Puro Relajo and Valeria Castro are the first names of Pirineos Sur 2025, which promises to be one of the most powerful of recent editions. Aragón’s most important festival will unfold its floating stage on the waters of Lanuza between July 10 and 27 to once again host an eclectic lineup in one of the most breathtaking natural spaces in the country.
Pirineos Sur will open on Thursday 10th with one of the most renowned and successful bands in Mexico, which already demonstrated its magnificent live performance at the festival back in 2003: Los Tigres del Norte . After recording more than 55 albums and selling more than 30 million copies, after 14 years they return to Spain with their unmistakable mix of corridos, cumbia and rancheras. As a prelude, the Navarrese band Puro Relajo, a benchmark in our country for Mexican music and popular music of all times, will present their show “Un brindis por la vida”.
The following day, Friday 11th, Michael Kiwanuka will make his debut at Lanuza. With acclaimed albums such as “Kiwanuka” or “Love & Hate”, and awards such as the Mercury Prize, his music is an emotional journey that explores love, identity and resilience. Lanuza’s swamp will be filled with that warm and powerful atmosphere that only an artist like him is capable of providing with the songs from his most recent work: “Small changes”. La Perra Blanco, one of the most important artists of the current national rock and roll, will open the evening.
On Sunday 13th, artist Ara Malikian will turn the stars in the sky that cover the natural stage into his own musical staff, ready to demonstrate his mastery of the violin and his ability to mix classical music, rock and jazz.
AMAIA AND VALERIA CASTRO WILL OPEN THE SECOND WEEKEND
Some names are already known from the second weekend. On Saturday 19th, two of the most relevant female artists in the country at the moment will perform: Amaia and Valeria Castro . The Pamplona native will debut at Pirineos Sur to display her charm and unrivalled style and present her long-awaited new album, “Si Abro Los Ojos No Es Real”. On the other hand, a couple of editions ago a young promise called Valeria Castro dazzled the public at Pirineos Sur with her velvety voice and a collection of songs that appealed to tradition from a modern perspective . Now she returns with an established career, a multitude of awards (including a Latin Grammy) and new songs such as “La soledad” or “Sentimentalmente” that give continuity to her successful “Con cariño y con cuidado”.
Viva Suecia will culminate on Sunday 20th with a powerful live performance. The Murcia-based group, a benchmark of the Spanish indie scene, will present their greatest hits with their unmistakable energy , which promises to make the night one of the most eagerly awaited of this edition.
THE MUSIC OF ZAZ, JULIETA VENEGAS AND RESIDENTE WILL FILL THE PYRENEES
For the third and final weekend, three kaleidoscopic proposals from different parts of the world and musical genres. The French artist Zaz, world famous thanks to her song “Je veux” , performed for the first time in Pirineos Sur two editions ago. But her sold out was so incontestable that her presence on Thursday 24th is once again one of the highlights of the festival.
On the following day, Friday 25th July, Julieta Venegas , one of the great voices of Latin music of the last two decades, with more than twelve million records sold worldwide and numerous Grammys, will be coming to Lanuza. In addition, Yerai Cortés, one of the most innovative flamenco guitarists of his generation , will also take the stage. And he will do so to present “La Guitarra Flamenca de Yerai Cortés”, the debut album that emerged from the first documentary directed by C. Tangana, and which has just achieved two Goya nominations: Best Documentary Film and Best Original Song.
On Saturday 26th there will be a double premiere: Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals and Quique González. The Californian artist, author of such acclaimed albums as “Welcome to the cruel world” or “The will to live” , will be performing with The Innocent Criminals to present his most recent work: “Wide open light”. He will share the day with the singer-songwriter from Madrid Quique González, one of the best exponents of rock singer-songwriter at the moment , with albums that are already classics, such as “Delantera mítica” or “Ajuste de cuentas”.
And the 32nd edition of Pirineos Sur will conclude on Sunday 27th with one of the most influential figures in contemporary Latin music, Puerto Rican Residente, co-founder of Calle 13. His unique style, which combines hip-hop, urban music and traditional Latin American rhythms with lyrics full of social criticism and poetry, transcends the musical to become a voice of change and resistance.
A FIRST PREVIEW
With this first preview, Pirineos Sur once again demonstrates the strength of this event in the cultural panorama . Over these three decades, the International Festival of Cultures has been a catalyst for the most current sounds from the five continents with room for all audiences . Once again this year, the three-humped camel, an emblem created in 2002 by Isidro Ferrer inspired by the mountains, will be the star of the image of this festival as a symbol of art and humanity, which travels and crosses sound territories.
And it is a unique festival not only for its selection of artists. Its floating stage, under the skirts of the imposing Peña Foratata with its 2,321 meters of height , is perhaps its most characteristic and recognizable image. Listening to the open-air concerts embraced by the natural landscapes of the Tena valley or enjoying the sunsets reflected in the waters of the reservoir, are experiences that can only be lived in Pirineos Sur.
Its amphitheatre is
designed to be enjoyed comfortably, sitting on its stone steps or dancing standing in its pit on the banks of the reservoir. Last year, significant investments were made in infrastructure and this year we will continue to
work with an eye on sustainability , a priority commitment of the festival’s Organisation.
