Hotel occupancy in Zaragoza in 2024 has been a record, with the arrival of 1,272,650 tourists in total , which is 8.9% more than the previous year (1,167,966). This is demonstrated by the hotel occupancy data from the National Institute of Statistics (INE) and those provided by the campsite. Added to this figure is the 6% increase in overnight stays, reaching 2,133,762 compared to 2,012,447 in 2023.
The growth of tourism in the Aragonese capital has been so significant this past year that it exceeds that registered in the country as a whole, both in terms of travellers and overnight stays.
As for the number of visitors, the 13.7% increase in international tourism stands out, with 392,953 tourists from other countries, so that they now account for 30% of the travellers visiting the city, being the highest percentage recorded so far. They come, first of all, from France, Italy, the United Kingdom and the United States. Spanish tourists also increase, specifically by 6.9%, going from 822,380 visitors in 2023 to 879,697 in 2024.
Regarding overnight stays, the campsite, which this year has opened a new concessionaire, also registered a significant increase, with 40% more than in 2023. In hotels, this increase has been 5%.
These figures were announced on Friday during the International Tourism Fair (FITUR) in Madrid, where Mayor Natalia Chueca presented Zaragoza as the World Capital of Garnacha, the “most strategic and ambitious” tourism project to continue attracting tourists to the city, taking advantage of the region’s winemaking heritage and tradition.
