Aragon is a land of natural tourism and impressive landscapes that can be seen in every corner, from
Huesca to Teruel via Zaragoza. Mountains, rivers, vegetation, rock formations… All of this is seen from a much more special perspective if we talk about some of the jewels of the Community: its walkways. These suspended structures allow visitors to enter gorges, cliffs and rivers as they had never before imagined. It is a type of
tourism that tests the courage of each person (depending on how much fear one has) and offers a unique panoramic view of nature from different points.

Blending adventure and natural beauty, Aragon’s walkways are ideal for thrill-seekers but also for those who want to enjoy accessible routes with postcard views. From stunning gorges to hidden waterfalls, these routes offer an original way to explore the region and connect with its rich biodiversity and unique landscapes.

PANTICOSA WALKWAYS

Located in the Tena Valley, the Panticosa walkways are a wonder for those who want to enjoy the Aragonese Pyrenees from a different perspective. This route, which opened in 2021, is relatively short but intense, as the walkways rise above the Caldarés River and cross the spectacular Santa Elena gorge.

One of the most fascinating curiosities of this route is how it combines history and nature: just a few metres away are the remains of the Santa Elena hermitage, which dates back to the 13th century. During the walk, visitors can admire the force of the river as it flows down the mountains, especially in spring, when the snowmelt fills its bed with life. In addition, the route is designed to be accessible, making it a perfect option for families with children.

CALOMARDE WALKWAYS

In the heart of the Sierra de Albarracín, the Calomarde walkways offer a magical and peaceful experience. This route follows the course of the Blanco River, which over the centuries has carved a narrow and winding gorge known as the Barranco de la Hoz.

One of the most interesting things about this route is the serenity that you can breathe: the murmur of the water, the whimsical rock formations and the vegetation that surrounds the path make it ideal for those looking for a relaxing walk. On sunny days, the light that filters through the walls of the gorge creates a play of shadows and reflections that enchants photographers and nature lovers.

MONTFALCÓ WALKWAYS

Known as “the path to heaven”, the Montfalcó walkways are an experience that mixes vertigo and adventure. Although they are technically located on the border between Aragon and Catalonia, their access from the Aragonese side makes them a must-see.

These walkways are carved directly into the walls of the Congost de Mont-rebei, a narrow canyon where the Noguera Ribagorzana River has created a dreamlike landscape. The most impressive feature is the flight of vertical stairs, a test for thrill-seekers. From the top, visitors can enjoy spectacular views of the Canelles reservoir, whose turquoise blue tones contrast with the rock walls.

BECEITE WALKWAYS

In the heart of the Matarraña, the Beceite walkways offer a unique experience as you walk along the Parrizal Strait, where the crystal-clear waters of the Matarraña River have sculpted a unique landscape. The route, about 8 kilometres round trip, takes visitors through a gorge with walls that reach up to 60 metres in height. These wooden walkways blend perfectly into the surroundings, allowing you to cross the river and enjoy its pools and small waterfalls.

What makes this route special is the transition from a more open landscape to the final stretch, known as the Narrows, where the walls almost touch. This narrow natural passage gives a feeling of being completely immersed in nature. In addition, the flora and fauna of the place, such as the mountain goats and vultures that frequent the area, make the walk an even more fascinating experience.

At the end of the route, you will reach a great visual reward: the impressive ” Cave of Wonders “. This place is ideal for photography lovers and for those looking for a quiet corner where they can connect with nature. In addition, the municipality of Beceite offers a rural charm with a rich gastronomic offer, perfect to complement the visit.

ALQUÉZAR WALKWAYS

Located in the Sierra y Cañones de Guara Natural Park, the Alquézar walkways are an icon of high-altitude tourism in Aragon. This route allows you to enter the spectacular canyon of the Vero River, through a system of walkways that rise to various heights, combining sections at water level with others that hang dozens of meters below. The experience is accessible to the whole family, with a circular route of about 3 kilometers.

The natural environment is one of the main attractions of this route. The waters of the Vero River, of a mesmerizing turquoise color, contrast with the limestone walls of the canyon. In addition, the area is home to a unique biodiversity, including birds of prey such as the bearded vulture, which can be spotted during the walk. The sound of the water and the tranquility of the place make it an ideal spot for nature lovers.

ECURIZA WALKWAYS IN ALLOZA

In the small municipality of Alloza, the Ecuriza footbridges offer a lesser-known but equally fascinating alternative for hiking enthusiasts . This route, which follows the course of the Regallo ravine, stands out for its wild and peaceful surroundings, ideal for those looking for a plan away from the crowds.

The most striking thing about these walkways is the variety of landscapes they offer in a relatively short distance. As visitors advance, they will come across small waterfalls, pools and rock formations that show the passage of time. In addition, the environment is especially attractive in spring, when the vegetation blooms and the water reaches its greatest flow.

VALLORÉ STRAIT WALKWAYS

Located in the municipality of Montoro de Mezquita, the Valloré Strait walkways offer a unique experience in the Maestrazgo Cultural Park. This route allows you to enter a spectacular gorge formed by the Guadalope River. The walkways, built of wood and steel, blend perfectly into the surroundings, hanging about 20 metres above the riverbed.

One of the highlights of this route is the viewing point at the end of the route. From here, visitors can enjoy
stunning views of the strait and the rocky walls that flank it. In addition, the biodiversity of the place is another of its attractions, with species such as the golden eagle or the European otter present in the area.
