The Minister of Education, Vocational Training and Sports, Pilar Alegría, accompanied by the president of Paradores, Raquel Sánchez, has visited the facilities of the Parador de Veruela, in the Zaragoza town of Vera de Moncayo, which will open its doors, foreseeably, in the spring of 2026. During the visit, the Government spokesperson announced that both institutions are working on a path of collaboration to promote Dual FP with the idea that the paradores can be training centers for students of tourism, hospitality, but also administration and management, commerce and marketing and other professional families.
“This is a commitment to the future that will benefit both our students and the development of tourism and the economy in our country,” said Alegría. “In addition, Paradores has launched an ambitious investment plan of more than 250 million euros to renew its network, which will generate new employment and training opportunities for our young people ,” he added.
The tourism and hospitality sector is one of those considered key by the Ministry of Education for the development of vocational training. It is expected that, by 2035, tourism will generate 2.3 million jobs in Spain, of which 585,000 will be for profiles from vocational training. In the case of the hospitality industry, the forecast is that more than 1.3 million job opportunities will be generated; 22% of them, for technical profiles.
The Veruela Parador will be the fifth in Aragon, along with those in Alcañiz , Bielsa , Sos del Rey Católico and Teruel, and it will also be the 100th in Spain. During the visit, Raquel Sánchez stressed that “we are in the final stretch to open the doors of the Veruela Parador in 2026”. “We understand that we have been waiting for this inauguration for many years, but the works are complex and we have involved different administrations to recover and rehabilitate this wonderful building”, she continued.
This site will serve to attract tourism to the Moncayo area , “a region that has heritage, gastronomy , culture , nature and therefore has all the components to become a reference point, reaffirming our commitment to cultural and nature tourism.” Paradores will invest more than 3.5 million euros to adapt the establishment for hotel use with the different hospitality facilities such as the kitchen, equipment, facilities and decoration that have already been put out to tender.
The Parador de Veruela will become a tourist reference for the area, with spaces for holding events and 80 rooms spread over four floors. As for the staff, Paradores has already published 25 positions through the public job offer, which will be resolved throughout 2025, and in total the permanent hiring of 32 jobs is expected.
