Zaragoza has been confirmed as one of the venues for the 2030 World Cup and has established itself as one of the best-positioned cities to host matches in this tournament. This was announced by the president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), Rafael Louzán, in a meeting held this Tuesday in Zaragoza with the mayor, Natalia Chueca.

At the meeting, Louzán congratulated the city for the progress of the Nueva Romareda project and for the modular stadium solution , which will speed up the works. In addition, she announced that the Women’s National Football Team will inaugurate this football field once the works are finished in June.

Speaking at a press conference, the RFEF president stressed that Zaragoza continues to make steady progress and strictly comply with the deadlines set out in the work plan. This reinforces its candidacy as one of the eleven Spanish venues that will host matches at the 2030 World Cup, reaffirming its relevance in the international football scene.

Mayor Natalia Chueca has confirmed that preparations for the construction of the Nueva Romareda are underway and that work will begin in the coming days. She has underlined the importance of the stadium as a driving force for transformation for the city and has highlighted that it will be a space that will not only meet, but exceed expectations.

In this regard, Louzán has also committed to collaborating with Zaragoza to attract more sporting events to the Aragonese capital. At the meeting, the close collaboration between the City Council, the Government of Aragon and the RFEF to ensure the success of the 2030 World Cup was reaffirmed.

One of the key points of the meeting was the update on the works at the New Romareda, which will become a state-of-the-art stadium with capacity for more than 43,000 spectators. This venue will meet FIFA requirements and will be developed under high international standards in functionality, sustainability and experience for players and fans.

Chueca has highlighted the positive impact that the new stadium will have on the city, not only during the World Cup, but also in the long term. In addition to insisting that Valencia will also host the 2030 World Cup, Rafael Louzán’s visit included technical meetings with those responsible for the project and a tour of the construction site. The City Council points out that this visit has served to confirm that Zaragoza is well positioned to meet the deadlines set by FIFA and to continue to be an example of organisation and planning.
