The big children's parade will be on March 2nd

When is the Zaragoza Carnival 2025 celebrated? Dates of the grand parade and the children’s street parade

The Zaragoza Carnival is one of the most colorful and crowded festivals

Cristina Morte Landa Thursday, February 13, 2025 / 08:56

The Count of Salchichón, Lady Lent, the King of Roosters…  The Carnival is getting closer and closer to filling Zaragoza with merriment, fun, colour and tradition at one of the most entertaining times of the year. Tradition combines with the aroma of sausage on Jueves Lardero and the most outlandish characters take to the streets.

But when is the Zaragoza Carnival 2025? Although all the details and the complete programme are still unknown, the days on which the parades will be held are already known.

FROM FEBRUARY 27TH TO MARCH 2ND

Thus, the Zaragoza Carnival will be celebrated this year from February 27 to March 2. It will begin, as is tradition, with the distribution of sausage in the Plaza Miguel Merino and the subsequent Jueves Lardero party, on February 27.

Lady Cuaresma, Count Salchichón, Mojiganga… All of them will visit one of the schools in Zaragoza before a weekend in which anything can happen. On Saturday, March 1, the Adult Carnival will be held. There, the King of Roosters will be released and the craziest costumes (remember the one from The Simpsons that went viral throughout the country) will fill the center of Zaragoza with fun and merriment.

On Carnival Sunday, March 2, the spotlight will be on children with the traditional children’s parade in which magical creatures and Count Sausage and his followers will bring excitement and the desire to do crazy things to the city.

During these weeks, Zaragoza City Council will officially present the Zaragoza Carnival, the schedules and more details about this festival. In the city there has been a deep-rooted tradition of celebrating Carnival. This festival has a series of traditional characters, the students chose the  King of Roosters, someone who was funny or made them laugh and Count Salchichón was a nobleman who, with his generosity, paid for the expenses of the festival.
