The companies Ignis and Eurocontainer will deploy projects worth a combined €66.8 million, with a green hydrogen production plant in La Zaida (€51 million) and a new operations base in Remolinos (€15.8 million), respectively. The Governing Council approved two declarations of Autonomous Interest on Wednesday, and in the first case, the PIGA will be processed shortly, as explained by the spokesperson and Minister of Economy,
Mar Vaquero.

Regarding Ignis, under its name Ignis Hydrogen Alpha, the so-called Moncayo project has been planned for the town of Zaida, but will have an impact on the terms of La Puebla de HíjarEscatrónSástago and Castelnou, within the Ribera Baja del Ebro and Bajo Martín regions, with connections to the grid and renewable energy parks to promote it. This company will deploy a green hydrogen production plant and a steam plant, which in turn will supply Evonik, dedicated to the manufacture of hydrogen peroxide or hydrogen peroxide.

The hydrogen portion will have a capacity of 20 megawatts generated through electrolysis, which will
eliminate processes that required natural gas and, consequently, CO2 emissions. The two industrial plots that will comprise the plant total 7,943 square meters, located within the La Zaida industrial estate.

The steam generating facilities will have nine-megawatt electric boilers powered by renewable energy sources. They will be located on the grounds of the current Evonik complex.

The creation of 110 jobs is planned during construction and another fifteen permanent jobs once operational. The first phase will include the hydrogen infrastructure and the connection to the electricity grid, and the second phase will include the steam plant. Construction work is expected to take place, respectively, from the fourth quarter of 2025 to the second half of 2027 and throughout the latter year. Commissioning is expected by the end of the third quarter of that year.

MATERIAL FOR DATA CENTERS

Meanwhile, Eurocontainer will consolidate its Zaragoza and Figueruelas headquarters in Remolinos . Fourteen million euros of the investment will be allocated to the construction of warehouses and auxiliary buildings. The work will take place in phases between this year and 2030. The developer plans to increase its existing workforce of 190 by 50 people, primarily in the areas of design and engineering, but also in sales, human resources, administration, and IT.

The company will have a total area of 47,101 square meters, of which 30,825 will be buildings. Eurocontainer is dedicated to the manufacture and integration of emergency support units for data centers, as well as modules ”
to house inverters and transformer substations in power generation plants .” Until now, Mar Vaquero added, these goods were mostly imported from England due to the growing demand from multinationals in the sector.
