The giant TDG Ibernavitas will have its first European headquarters in Zaragoza and will begin its activity in the Plaza de Zaragoza industrial estate as a result of negotiations with the City Council of the Aragonese capital that began more than a year ago. The project presented foresees an investment of more than 120 million euros over 5 years and estimates that 800 direct jobs will be generated.
As a result of strategic negotiation work and also due to its strategic position, Zaragoza has been chosen as the centre of operations for Europe and North Africa, compared to other locations initially considered by the group in countries in the north of the continent.
The Asian group has presented a 5-year implementation project that foresees an investment of more than 120 million euros and the creation of up to 800 direct jobs progressively in the coming years. This was confirmed this morning by the president of TDG, Pan Jianqing, during a working meeting with the mayor Natalia Chueca at the PAN-Semiconductores Industrial Park, in the Chinese city of Haining . This meeting marks the closing of a negotiation process that will allow the creation of a joint venture between a large international holding
company such as TDG and the Aragonese firm Zeumat, which represents a unique opportunity for companies from Zaragoza to access new international markets.

The mayor stressed that this project, in addition to creating direct employment, will have a significant impact on the local economic fabric through indirect jobs, thanks to the collaboration with companies and logistics companies. “We have been working for months to ensure that TDG has chosen Zaragoza as its operations centre for Europe over other alternatives in northern Europe. This project not only strengthens our position as a
technological and logistics hub in southern Europe, but also demonstrates that Zaragoza is capable of competing with the major capitals of the continent,” said Chueca.
WHAT WILL BE BUILT IN THE PLAZA INDUSTRIAL ESTATE?
TDG Ibernavitas will be dedicated to the manufacture of batteries and energy storage solutions, in addition to other lines of the group such as electronics and R&D&I , with an initial investment that includes facilities of 10,000 square meters in the Plaza industrial estate. In this first phase, the company plans to build a factory for the integration of energy storage systems, an assembly line, a testing laboratory and a warehouse for new energy equipment, with an initial production capacity of 2 GWh per year.

The decision to move to Zaragoza is a strategic step for TDG, with the aim of “Europeanising” its product and facilitating its commercial distribution in the European market. This move reinforces the tendency of large international companies to choose southern Europe, and in particular Zaragoza, as a gateway instead of the traditional locations in the centre and north of the continent.
TDG Ibernavitas ‘ industrial plan includes various stages that, as expectations are met, will allow it to expand its production capacity to 5 GWh per year and build new facilities. By 2029, the company plans to acquire an additional 30,000 square meters to develop a battery cell manufacturing line and an integrated production plant for storage systems, including sodium-ion and lithium iron phosphate batteries.
“ZARAGOZA AS A KEY LOCATION FOR INTERNATIONAL COMPANIES”
Mayor Natalia Chueca stressed that this agreement is much more than the opening of a business headquarters in Zaragoza. “This is a unique opportunity for the future of our city. Not only are we generating employment linked to innovation, sustainability and R&D, but we are also opening the door to strategic projects of the TDG holding in other verticals such as electronics or technology applied to renewable energies and artificial intelligence. This project is a triumph for Zaragoza and reinforces our position as a key location for international companies ,” concluded Chueca.

In 2024, TDG Group, a partner of Ibernavitas, had a turnover of 1 billion euros (7.8 billion yuan) and employed nearly 6,000 workers in China. Its activity covers the entire circuit related to the research, design, manufacture and sale of energy storage products, from battery cells to energy management systems (EMS).
The arrival of TDG Ibernavitas in Zaragoza marks a turning point in the city’s internationalisation strategy, opening the door to new opportunities for the local technology, logistics and energy sectors.
