The Winter Series will land this weekend at MotorLand Aragón for what will be its penultimate round of the season. The European series is known for being held during the winter on the best circuits in southern Europe, giving the public a great opportunity to enjoy car racing of different types.
This year, the Winter Series is made up of four different categories. The first is the GT Winter Series, which features the most spectacular supercars such as Porsches, Lamborghinis and Ferraris. The lower category, the GT4 Winter Series, serves as training for young drivers, also in racing supercars.
The Prototype Winter Series is the most striking due to the use of LMP3, single-seater racing prototypes in which the wings and aerodynamics become the protagonists with truly dizzying speeds. Regarding the Formula Winter Series, the formula four cars will race at MotorLand offering very close races with very young drivers on their way to the elite.
HOW DOES THE WINTER SERIES COME TO MOTORLAND?
Following the races held in Estoril and Portimao, the Prototype Winter Series category enters its final phase with Danny Soufi of the Konrad Motorsport team leading after winning all four races held to date. If he increases his gap from 34 points to second place to 50 or more at the end of the Aragonese event, he will mathematically be the champion.
In the GT Winter Series, Cristiano Michel and Rui Aguas’ AF Corse team leads by 20 points over SR Motorsport. In this case, the championship remains very open, considering that third place is 22 points behind and there are still 6 races left, even counting the 3 at MotorLand.
In GT4, McKenzy Cresswell leads the standings with the Elite Motorsport team. He is 32 points behind the second-placed driver and would be crowned champion if he can gain more than 75 points from MotorLand.
Finally, in the Formula Winter Series there are two great drivers who stand out in the championship: Gabriel Gómez and Leo Sami Robinson. The advantage of the former is summed up in 34 points that he must manage to be able to win the title at the end of the season. Meanwhile, Leo Sami will try to reduce the gap as much as possible with the aim of leaving MotorLand with a chance of challenging Gabriel for the title.
FREE ACCESS, PIT WALK, OPEN TERRACES…
The facilities of the Alcaniz circuit will be open to the public, who will be able to enjoy a stroll through the paddock close to these impressive racing vehicles, some of which have their own box in the paddock. The terraces will offer an excellent view of both the standing and flying starts, a crucial moment in the races. All with free access and indoor parking at the circuit. In addition, at 1:05 p.m. on Sunday, fans will be able to take the Pit Walk through the MotorLand Aragón pit lane.
