During this Holy Week , between April 12 and 21, Zaragoza ‘s Tourist Offices assisted 10,088 visitors seeking information about the city, 22% of whom were foreigners (2,214 people).
Despite the weather conditions, citizens once again demonstrated their interest and devotion to the religious and social events surrounding this commemoration, filling the streets. The number of inquiries was similar to that of the previous year, when 10,785 consultations were recorded during the same festive period.
Of the total number of inquiries, the majority (7,874) were made by Spaniards, while 22% were made by foreign tourists (2,214). Of particular note is the 21% increase in tourists from other countries, especially, in this order, France (36%), the United Kingdom (8%), Germany (7%), and the United States (6%) . Regarding national inquiries, those from Catalonia have increased to 19%, while those from residents of Zaragoza remain at 27%.
The offices have handled an average of 1,000 inquiries per day, with the busiest day being April 17, Holy Thursday.
The average stay was between two and three days, and the main reason for visiting was monuments and culture, in 85% of cases. The most requested information was related to monuments and museums, general information about the city, Holy Week, and tourist services.
THE RAIN HAS NOT SIGNIFICANTLY AFFECTED OCCUPANCY
The hotel sector, which counts overnight stays and provides data aligned with official statistics that will be released later, has expressed positive results from these holidays, during which rain has not significantly affected occupancy.
In addition to the activities at the offices, a total of 5,477 people participated in the tourist services ( guided tours, tourist bus, and the Zuda viewpoint ), and 3,832 Easter programs were delivered.
Regarding municipal alternatives for exploring the city, the most successful are guided tours, such as the Brotherhood Route, Essential Zaragoza , and guided walks, which grew by 7% compared to last year, with a total of 809 users.
Another positive development is the tourist information routes on the street, which, with 188 people, represent a 16% increase compared to the same period last year.
In addition, a total of 1,799 people enjoyed the views from the Mirador de las Cuatro Culturas at the Torreón de la Zuda , 4% more than the previous year.
Finally, the Tourist Bus registered 2,570 passengers, 5% more than the previous year, and the Megabus registered 111 participants.
