Zaragoza presents the key points of the city for the 2030 World Cup to a FIFA delegation

A FIFA technical delegation visited Zaragoza this morning to learn first-hand about the key aspects of the city as host of the World Cup

A FIFA technical delegation visited Zaragoza this morning to learn first-hand about the key aspects of the city as host of the 2030 FIFA World Cup, made up of Spain, Portugal and Morocco.

The international organisation’s team, made up of 10 members, was accompanied by institutional representatives from the Zaragoza City Council, the Government of Aragon, Real Zaragoza and the Aragonese Football Federation, as well as representatives from the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), the Portuguese and Moroccan federations, and representatives from the Higher Sports Council (CSD). The delegates from the international organisation were divided into different teams to analyse infrastructure, accommodation and sports facilities.

In this sense, some mobility, logistics and intermodal connection infrastructures have been visited, such as Delicias Station and Zaragoza Airport; the accommodation offered by the city, with a tour of the facilities of five high-end hotels; some sports facilities in Cuarte de Huerva, Villanueva de Gállego or Zaragoza, in addition to the 
Real Zaragoza Sports City; and facilities such as the current La Romareda football field, with the progress of its works, and the Zaragoza Auditorium, where a detailed exhibition of the project undertaken by La Nueva Romareda for the construction of the new stadium has been held. The work day has closed with a visit to the monumental surroundings of the Plaza del Pilar.

The FIFA expedition has been accompanied, at different times, by the Mayor of Zaragoza, Natalia Chueca; the regional Minister for Education, Culture and Sport, Tomasa Hernández; the general manager of Real Zaragoza, Fernando López; the municipal councillor for Urban Planning, Infrastructure, Energy and Housing, Víctor Serrano; the municipal councillor for the Presidency, Ángel Lorén; the manager of the La Nueva Romareda Company, 
Martín Fuica; the general manager of Sport, Cristina García; the team from the consultancy firm IDOM; the councillor for Sport, Félix Brocate; or the manager of Zaragoza Tourism, José Francisco García, among other officials and technicians.
