The Zanini plant in Épila, specialised in the manufacture of hubcaps and wheel covers for the automotive sector, has celebrated its 25th anniversary with excellent news that underpins its future in Aragon. The automotive auxiliary company, with 236 employees in the community and more than 1,800 worldwide, plans to invest around six million euros until 2027 in projects related to, among others, the electric vehicle, which will increase its production by 7 million pieces per year, up to more than 33 million, and will bring in a business of almost 6 million euros.

The CEO of Zanini Auto Group, Jordi Torras, accompanied by members of the company’s Management Committee, hosted the commemorative event, which was attended by the General Director of Industrial Promotion and Innovation of the Government of Aragon, Mar Paños, as well as the Mayor of Épila, Jesús Bazán, and the Managing Director of the Automotive and Mobility Cluster of Aragon (CAAR), David Romeral. After a brief tour of the plant to learn about the facilities and see the evolution of the parts that have marked the history of Zanini in Épila, the group moved to the Palacio del Conde de Aranda in the Zaragoza town, where tribute was paid to the workers who have completed 25 years in the company.

“When we came to Épila 25 years ago to carry out the survey to build the plant, we did not hesitate for a second because of the facilities offered to us by the Government of Aragon,” Torras revealed. In his opinion, the key to the success of the Zaragoza plant, the second with the highest turnover of the group, is “the commitment of the human team and having known how to reinvent itself to find the right product format and remain competitive, thanks to a high level of technology and specialisation executed in an excellent manner.”

The Épila plant has 7,600 square metres of production space on a 14,300-square-metre plot and produces around 125,000 pieces a day between the Injection (hubcaps) and Finishing (hubcaps, hubcaps and inserts) sections. The Injection line is equipped with 16 machines of between 130 and 900 tonnes, as well as various assembly cells for aluminium components in injected parts (gluing and overmoulding). As for the Finishing section, it has a painting facility; various assembly cells for aluminium or chrome components in painted parts, to which new units will soon be added; and a pad printing cell for painted parts.
