The Vice President of the Government of Aragon and Minister of the Presidency, Economy and Justice, Mar Vaquero, announced this Monday in the Institutional Commission of the Cortes that the regional Executive plans to invest one billion euros in technology during this legislature. “Technology is the strategic line of the Government. We must trust in it because it serves to retain and attract talent. Aware of its importance and following the forecasts for 2024, our department will have made an investment of more than 200 million euros in technology by the end of the legislature. In addition, in all the departments as a whole, more than one billion euros will be allocated to promoting technology,” she said.

Vaquero stressed that the objective is not only to get investments, but that these have “a community impact ”. That is, that their implementation influences “ social services, education and employment”. The number two of the DGA has pointed out that Aragon “is better than fourteen months ago ”, although without falling into complacency. In this sense, she believes that the Government is committed to sustainability to guarantee competitiveness and productivity. “We are aware that it is necessary to work to avoid imbalance and that all opportunities reach the whole territory”, she said.

The analysis is not only related to economic development, but also to other matters, “working to influence other factors such as tax reduction, which affects greater investment and an improvement in social services.” “We give importance to employment and training, where we are dedicating many programs to align academic profiles with the needs of the market,” he added.

” Innovationtechnology and digitalisation ” are some of the ” levers ” of the Department. “We have enormous potential. We have developed an energy plan that will be made public before the end of the year and we are working on an energy law that will include what is established in the decree, for which we will ask for the collaboration of all parliamentary groups and we will do it with a guarantee of legality,” the vice president continued. There are more bets such as “internationalisation, innovation, simplification and social dialogue “, which in her opinion guarantees ” certainty and stability, in addition to sustainability.”

For Vaquero, there is a political, economic and social change “that reflects the growth and well-being as seen in all departments.” And this, he says, also explains the improvement in the data: “they are consistent and show how we have reoriented policy and that we are better.” The latest estimates from Airef (Independent Authority for Fiscal Responsibility) give another increase in the Aragonese economy for the third quarter, “which will rise by 3.5% year-on-year” because Aragon, he argued, “creates jobs, has more workers, less unemployment and more social security affiliations. ” This “is demonstrated by the fact that there are 171 more companies than in 2023 and industrial production has increased by 5.9% while exports grow by 3.9%.”

Vaquero has referred to the 36.4 billion euros in investments that have arrived in the Community during 2024. “It is an investment that is almost eight times our budget,” said the councilor, who recalled that this amount not only comes from foreign capital, but also from Aragonese and Spanish companies such as the Costa GroupSaica or Inditex. Finally, regarding the implementation and advancement of data centers, the vice president has expressed her intention to “continue demanding that the ministry develop infrastructures for the access and transport of that energy” in the event that the Government of Spain “reduces or limits leadership” in this sector. “We need this competitive advantage to become a reality and we hope to have everyone’s support,” she concluded.
