The tallest crocheted tree in the world, the oldest person to celebrate a birthday at 117 years old or the greatest number of somersaults on a suspended sphere in one minute. These are just some of the challenges that have made it into the Guinness Book of Records in Spain for 2025. In total, our country has appeared in a book that is already a classic 15 times and that in this new edition has accumulated 2,115 achievements around the world. In this case, Aragón has not achieved any feat, but throughout the history of the book it has made it into the book a good handful of times.
From 1996 to 2021, Aragón has achieved a total of 14 feats that have earned it an appearance in this popular book. From the longest sausage in the world to a giant arcade machine, these are some of the feats achieved.
THE LONGEST SAUSAGE IN THE WORLD IN GRAUS
In 1996, the longest sausage in the world was made in Graus, with a total length of 1,000 metres. The town of Huesca is known for this culinary delicacy (which even reached Netflix thanks to Soy Georgina). In relation to sausage, the largest grill in the world was also built in Graus, with a length of 20 metres, to grill sausage.
THE LARGEST PLATE OF PATATAS BRAVAS
In Aragon, gastronomy is one of the most joyful topics, and also when it comes to breaking records. At a Potato Fair in 2000 , the town of Cella in Teruel produced the largest plate of patatas bravas in the world, weighing a total of 2,400 kilos.
THE LARGEST MOJITO IN THE WORLD
Continuing with the gastronomic theme, in 2015 Cerler set out to take the place of the Italian town of Lavagna by making the largest quantity of mojito in the world. This involved 475 litres of rum, 1,924 kilos of ice, 222 of sugar and the same number of litres of soda. The glass had a capacity of 3,450 litres.
THE LARGEST ARCADE MACHINE
Another curious challenge for which Aragón entered the Guinness Book of Records was a giant arcade machine located in the MadLab center at La Torre Outlet in Zaragoza. A five-meter-high machine that worked with XXL coins and for which you had to climb a ladder to be able to play.
It was on December 18, 2021 when MadLab presented this giant arcade machine in Zaragoza and days later a member of the Guinness World Records jury confirmed that it was the largest Tetris machine in the world.
THE FASTEST ZIPLINE
Speed lovers will surely be pleased to know that the fastest zip line in the world is located in Aragon. A speed record of 189 km/h was set in June 2021. The zip line has a gradient of 400 metres and a distance of almost two kilometres. In addition, together with the Highground zip line in Nepal, it is the only one that allows you to reach the braking station both in a sitting and lying position.
THE BIGGEST CLOCK
The most impressive clock in the world is in Zaragoza. It also appears in the Guinness Book of Records as the largest sundial in the world, beating the one in Jaipur, India, in 2013.
The most impressive part of the Zaragoza Sundial is its gnomon. That is, the 46-metre mast made of rusty steel that it uses to tell the time, which rises 30.343 metres above the ground and is 1 metre wide. It weighs 50 tonnes.
CLIMB AN 18-STORY BUILDING 18 TIMES IN ONE HOUR
It was Zaragoza firefighter David Robles who managed to get into the Guinness Book of Records in 2019 by climbing the maximum number of stairs possible in a building in one hour. It was in the World Trade Center building where he climbed 18 floors 18 times in one hour.
THE MASSIVE GAME OF PARCHÍS
If there is one thing that the Guinness Book of Records has to offer, it is that the feats recorded are the most curious. And Aragon also contributes to making them so. In fact, the Community can boast of such curious things as having been the scene of the most multitudinous game of Parcheesi. It was in El Grado in 2005 when some 700 players met to achieve the most multitudinous game of Parcheesi in the World Parcheesi Championship of El Grado.
