The President of the Government of Aragon, Jorge Azcón, held a meeting this Monday with the Aragonese candidates for the Goya Awards. Held in the Presidency area of the Pignatelli Building, the President met with the directors Pilar Palomero, Paula Ortiz and Javier Macipe, with the actor Pepe Lorente, the producer Amelia Hernández, the sound technicians Carlos Estella and Guille Mata, and with the costume designer Arantxa Ezquerro , accompanied by the president of Ara Film Fest, the Aragonese network of film festivals and exhibitions, José Antonio Aguilar.
Azcón has highlighted the talent of Aragonese creators and has considered that their work and effort has led them to be the best ambassadors of Aragon throughout the world. The president has shown his support for all Aragonese in their upcoming nominations for the Feroz Awards and Goya Awards, awards in which Aragon shines with its own light thanks to the projects developed by our directors, actors and technicians.
At the Goya Awards, which will be awarded on February 8 in Granada, the Aragonese will compete in 23 nominations. ‘La virgen roja’, a film directed by Paula Ortiz, has nine nominations, including best director (Ortiz) and costume design (Arantxa Ezquerro). ‘La estrella azul’, by Javier Macipe, has eight nominations, including best film, best new director and original script (Macipe), best new actor, with two candidates, the Aragonese Pepe Lorente and the Argentine musician Cuti Carabajal, best sound, with Carlos Estella and Guille Mata, or best production, with Amelia Hernández.
With ‘Los chispas’, by Pilar Palomero, the director will compete for the Goya for best adapted screenplay, and has also received nominations for best leading actress and actor and best new actress. Also nominated for the Goya are the Huesca actor Vito Sanz, for his role in the film ‘Volveréis’ by Jonás Trueba, Nacho Blasco for the editing of ‘La estrella azul’, and the documentary ‘Marisol, llámame Pepa’, by the Zaragoza-born Blanca Torres.
The Feroz Awards, whose ceremony will take place on January 25 in Pontevedra, will also have the Aragonese as protagonists, with ‘La virgen roja’ and ‘Los chispas’ with six nominations each, including best film and best director; and ‘La estrella azul’, with four, with its director Javier Macipe nominated for best script and Pepe Lorente, who plays the Zaragoza musician Mauricio Aznar, nominated as best leading actor.
