The main attraction of the park is, without a doubt, its steam locomotive.

In the heart of the Teruel Mining BasinsUtrillas holds one of the most fascinating treasures of Aragon’s industrial history: the Mining and Railway Theme Park. This place is not just an open-air museum, but an immersive experience that transports its visitors to the times when coal and iron were the driving force of the region. With activities for all ages and an environment that combines history, adventure and learning , the park is an essential stop for those wishing to explore Aragon’s mining heritage.

The park’s main attraction is undoubtedly its steam locomotive. This historic gem has been lovingly and carefully restored, allowing visitors to enjoy a unique journey on the old mine rails. Climbing aboard is like travelling back in time : the whistling of the steam, the roar of the boiler and the rhythmic movement of the wheels immerse you in an experience that evokes life in the first decades of the 20th century. The journey not only offers views of the mining complex, but also allows you to imagine what it was like to transport tons of coal from the depths of the earth to the consumption centres.

The Mining Theme Park would not be complete without its Mining Museum. In this space, a fascinating narrative unfolds about the life and work of the miners who dedicated their days to extracting the “black gold” from the depths of Utrillas. Models, original tools, photographs and audiovisual projections allow you to discover the working conditions of those times, from rudimentary tools to the technical innovations that marked the advance of mining.

Among the most impressive visits is that of the Pozo Santa Bárbara, an authentic underground mine adapted so that tourists can tour its galleries. This perfectly preserved space allows you to experience first-hand the sensations of working in the depths: the humidity, the darkness and the echo of human effort that resonates in its walls.

The park has also thought of the little ones, offering educational workshops and interactive activities that make the visit a fun learning experience. Children can participate in simulations of mineral extraction, learn about the formation of coal and understand the historical importance of the railway. In addition, the park’s surroundings, surrounded by nature, invite you to enjoy a full day with the family, with areas to relax and open-air spaces.

The Utrillas Mining and Railway Theme Park is not only a tribute to Aragon’s industrial past, but also a place where history comes to life. Whether enjoying a ride on its iconic steam train, exploring the Santa Bárbara Well or learning in its museum, every visitor takes away with them a unique and enriching experience. Ideal for families, history lovers or curious people looking for something different, this park is a shining example of how to preserve and celebrate a region’s heritage.
