The King and Queen will open this Wednesday the 45th edition of the International Tourism Fair ( Fitur ), which will take place at the Feria de Madrid ( Ifema ) until Sunday 26 January. This event will bring together 9,500 companies from 156 countries, eleven more than in the last edition, mainly from Africa and Asia.
During the fair, 884 main exhibitors, 10% more, will display their offering in 9 pavilions, with 101 countries with official representation, 5% more, standing out. The organisation expects to exceed 150,000 professionals from Wednesday to Friday and 100,000 general public visitors during the weekend.
This flow of participants and attendees is estimated to have an economic impact for Madrid of 445 million in revenue, with a positive effect on sectors such as mobility, hotels, restaurants, culture and leisure.
In this new edition, and as a result of the penetration of technology and innovation in the tourism sector , the increase in the Travel Technology area stands out, which brings together the technological trends in tourist reservation management, and which exceeds one hundred companies from around the world, which represents a sustained growth of 6%.
With these data, Fitur maintains its solid orientation towards business, with three exclusive days for professionals from January 22 to 24, and opening its doors to the public on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26.
Over the weekend, the general public will have the opportunity to embark on a global journey without leaving the nine pavilions of Ifema Madrid, through an agenda of interactive activities organized by exhibitors, including live musicals, food tastings, accessibility awareness days, craft workshops and competitions.
Among the new features for 2025, the participation of Brazil as a partner country stands out, which will make an important presence at the Fair to showcase its diverse tourist offer and continue to promote the global positioning of the destination in a context of growth.
In fact, 2024 was the best year in history for international tourism in the country, which reached a record figure of 6,657,377 foreign tourists in the year, 12.6% more than the previous year.
The fair will once again feature Fitur 4all, a space that will promote, with the sponsorship of Mallorca, the development of accessible tourism and will make visible initiatives by destinations and companies in this field through the Fitur 4all Awards and the first Guide to Good Practices, all in collaboration with Impulsa Igualdad.
Finally, Ifema will once again measure Fitur’s carbon footprint in scopes 1 and 2 as a sign of its commitment to sustainability and its bid to promote events with low environmental impact. As a novelty, in 2025 it will measure for the first time the impact in scope 3, which measures the indirect emissions that are produced.
